Every morning begins with an opportunity for our pupils to have an active start to their day. We offer a variety of sports such as running the daily mile, skipping and circuit training. We also offer sensory circuits indoors, giving pupils the chance to regulate their alertness, organisation and feel calm before they head to class.
At New River College Primary, we believe that all children learn best when they start their day having an additional nutritious breakfast – either sitting together as a whole school or in class with their peers. We offer this to all pupils every day. On Fridays, we have a special community cooked breakfast when all staff and pupils can enjoy a freshly prepared hot meal.
Our pupils have access to music therapy each week with registered music therapists. Music therapy engages children in musical composition and interaction and supports their emotional, communication and social skills.
Pupils are offered a weekly, 45-minute cricket session after school, which is delivered by Middlesex Cricket Club. Through these sessions, pupils can develop skills including fielding, batting, striking, catching, throwing, communication and teamwork.
Swimming lessons are offered to all pupils for a half-term every year.
NRC Primary is proud to be working towards becoming a Healthy Relationships Champion Setting this year. We’ve partnered up with Tender Education and Arts (www.tender.org.uk) to complete
RE:SET; an online toolkit and whole school campaign to award our school for promoting a culture of healthy, equal and respectful relationships. Click here to find out more!
